Zoewee’s Restaurant: A Journey of Flavor and Tradition

Zoewee’s Restaurant began as a dream in the heart of a young Liberian woman named Konor. Growing up in Monrovia, Konor spent countless hours in the kitchen with her mother and grandmother, learning the intricate recipes and cooking techniques that had been passed down through generations. The kitchen was always filled with laughter, the rich aromas of simmering stews, and the vibrant colors of fresh, local ingredients.

In 2005, Konor and her family relocated to Charlotte, NC, bringing with them a treasure trove of recipes and a deep love for their culinary heritage. As they settled into their new home, Konor noticed a longing in the Liberian community for the familiar tastes of home. She decided it was time to share her family’s culinary traditions with a broader audience.

With the support of her family, Konor opened Zoewee’s Restaurant in 2010. The name “Zoewee” is a tribute to her grandmother, a woman whose cooking was the soul of every family gathering. From the beginning, Zoewee’s was more than just a place to eat; it was a place where the Liberian community could gather, celebrate, and reconnect with their roots.

Word about Zoewee’s spread quickly. People from all walks of life came to experience the rich, flavorful dishes that Konor prepared with love and precision. The restaurant became known for its warm, welcoming atmosphere, where guests were treated like family. Konorโ€™s Jollof Rice, Palm Butter with Fufu, and Potato Greens became legendary, drawing food enthusiasts from far and wide.
